Labor and Employment
The firm’s Labor & Employment department advises labor-intensive clients in many fields, from standard industrial concerns to construction companies undertaking complex challenges. Our professionals stay up to date with the new labor regulation that has been implemented in Uruguay in recent years, and assist clients in complying with labor and social security rules, subcontracting and outsourcing, determining payroll taxes and benefits, and performing labor due diligence in company acquisitions.
Our experience interacting with clients employing large numbers of employees allows us to provide insightful assistance in union matters, assisting in the negotiation with unions, drafting of collective agreements, and determining applicable rules in union matters and disputes. Another key area in large multi-employee companies is the drafting of internal rules and codes, and our firm has vast experience providing this service.
In addition, our partners have also been regularly engaged in international projects, advising on and overseeing multi-country employee contracting for multinationals, standardizing cross-border solutions to provide clients with efficient across the board solutions. Locally, we also handle the registration of foreign workers and the immigration law aspects of foreign-worker permits and recordings, in coordination with the firm’s Residency and Immigration department.
